01/29/2018: Chapter 4 Part 4: Types of Chemical Reactions and Solution Stoichiometry

Checklist of work to be done by the beginning of class:  01/29/2018

Print this and mark off work as completed. (Or recreate it on paper if your printer isn’t working).  I suggest doing them in the order listed.

I added colors to divide videos, from reading, from worksheets, from note booking, from textbook questions, from tests, from labs. Hopefully, it will break the list up and cue you in to all the different things that are scheduled for you.

If you have questions, my email and phone numbers are posted in Big Tent.

Read Chapter 4: pages 138-162
Chemistry by Zumdahl textbook
If you have not read the chapter yet, read it  and take notes as you go.
Read the Chapter 4 Powerpoint

If you have not read the power points, read them and take notes as needed. Stop at Section 4.8.
Aqueous Solutions, Electrolytes and the Compositions of Solutions Section 4.1-4.3
Watch the Sentinel Chemistry Video: Aqueous Solutions, etc.
This guy is actually teaching out of our textbook. Definitely Watch it. The Page numbers he gives are about 4-6 pages behind our version of the text (Example 4.1 is on page 146, not 141).
Precipitation Reaction: Section 4.5 & 4.7
Watch the Sentinel Chemistry Video: Precipitation Reactions and Stoichiometry

This guy is actually teaching out of our textbook. Definitely Watch it.

1/22/2018 The Steps of Stoichiometry

The Steps of Stoichiometry

  1. Change the word equation into a formula equation
  2. Balance the equation
  3. Convert the given units of reactant into moles.
  4. Using the mole ratios between reactants and products to calculate the moles of product.
  5. Convert the moles into the desired units of product.

The Steps of Molarity:

  1. Determine what the problem is asking you for.
  2. Write down all the information given to you in the problem.
  3. Make the conversion necessary (moles to liters or liters to moles) Use the picket fences.
  4. Use the triangle to determine the unknown variable.
  5. Make the final conversions if necessary to give the required answer.

First Semester Full Assignment List in Order of Date Assigned

Here is the complete list of assignments for first semester chemistry.
THIS one is arranged by date assigned. Click the link and it should take you to a printable pdf of each assignment and lab.

I have a couple that I have to find the original files for. I will get them posted when I do. I just wanted to get these up ASAP.

If you need help with printing. Send me a note with which things you need and I will print them and bring them in Monday. Email is preferred. If you have your lab reports completed but cannot print them, email them to Mrs. Gates.

Many of you may have items in your Notebook that are complete. Just show them to me during class and I will mark them complete.

THE FINAL DAY I WILL ACCEPT ITEMS FROM SEMESTER 1 IS FEBRUARY 12TH. ABSOLUTE. FINAL. DAY. PLEASE GET THEM DONE BEFORE THEN.
